2018 May Favourites

Another month as come and gone. May was a lovely month weather wise, I enjoyed the rainy days curled up on the couch with a nice book, and I enjoyed the sunny days outside running some errands and getting the backyard summer ready! Beauty wise, I have discovered and rediscovered some amazing products that have now rightfully earned their way into my everyday routine. I hope you all have a lovely month and enjoy what products I have to share. Leave a comment if you’ve tried any of these, or just comment what product or “thing” you enjoyed for the month of May!

Let’s start with makeup shall we? This month I took a break from foundation- Now I don’t have perfect skin what-so-ever! My skin is red (literally all the time), dry, and I have acne scars like no tomorrow. So why? Why Emily must you take your knight in shining armour away? Let me tell ya! This Clinique Redness Solution makeup is the bee’s knees.IMG_2769 Legit !! It’s like a BB cream mixed with your foundation in one. Super lightweight and I kid you not- full coverage! It covers my redness, scars, and dark circles all in one! I found this product in the Sears clear-out bin back in December and was like “yeah I got redness, let’s see what this bad boy can do?” I used it once in December but that was when my skin was super dry and I preferred to use foundation so it wasn’t the right timing for me, but then a few weeks ago I was like, “hmm let’s try this and not used foundation”. All I wore that day was this product, concealer, a bit of bronzer, mascara, and a tinted lip balm. I felt amazing cause I didn’t walk around with like 5lbs of makeup on AND I  got compliments on my skin, which never happens! So that has been my makeup routine for the month of May.  Funny thing is, I have one zit on my chin right now. That’s it! ONE !! And that’s hormonal, so in a week it will be gone! Bless this product you are now my go-to and I love you forever. I did purchase the itCosmetics CC cream so maybe i’ll give that a go and see if it does the same thing. I purchased the Clinique redness solution from Shoppers (gotta get those PC Optimum points) for $36. If you don’t want to spend that much on it, I totally understand. Ask for a sample and see how it works with you!

Okay, after a long winded first paragraph let’s move on to something that’s still amazing but I won’t be crazy in your face about it.

Summer is near and for Canada it’s already here.IMG_2770 We literally went from Winter straight to Summer. I’m writing this now when it’s 29 degrees + humidity so it feels like 35 and it’s gross. The only problem I have with that, is that i’m pale af ! No joke, I needed some time to prepare my legs for shorts & dresses. So bless self tan because I am now ready. I posted a YouTube video comparing Bondi Sands vs the new Jergens Instant Sun Tanning Lotion. Check it out if you want to see my full thoughts on the comparison and see what it looks like on my skin but spoiler alert I chose Jergens. It’s great! You don’t need to wash it off, it lasts a few days, and it dries within a few minutes of applying it. So Summer? Bring it! My legs are now ready! May I add that it smells amazing. Fresh & floral all in one!

I love the garden in our backyard but the pollen is just out of this world. I found that Reactine wasn’t doing it all for me, so I did some research and IMG_2771came across using essential oils. I haven’t really used them in the past, I got a diffuser from my cousins at Christmas and thought yeah why not let’s give it a go. I purchased the Allergy Release from Saje and my life has forever changed. I put a few drops into the diffuser in the morning as i’m getting ready and I have it on at night as i’m reading. Smells amazing, and I feel that it actually helps! Now I still take a Reactine in the morning but I find that i’m not needing my puffer as much in the afternoon and I love it ! So if you’re struggling with allergies maybe give this a try, could be the right fix!

I’m going to take a jump back into skincare. A few months ago, I worked with a company called Banish. They sent me a wide range of their products and I did a YouTube & Instagram video for them. One product that really makes IMG_2773the magic happen is their Micro-needling Pen. It works wonders! I know that’s the big thing right now but it does the job! I’ve been using it once a week all over my face following a pore clearing mask and my skin feels amazing afterwards. The pen is full of micro-needles and it helps break up the skin to even it out. It doesn’t hurt at all but also depends on your pain tolerance and skin. My skin is pretty sensitive so it’s red and blotchy after application but just follow it with a moisturizer and it’s all good. I have noticed my acne scars are getting smaller and hopefully with the continuation of this product i’ll be able to say goodbye to acne scars for good! I know you can get treatments for this but they can be quite pricy so maybe try the pen at home first or if you just want a professional to do then by all means do that haha!

So that’s it! That’s my May in a nutshell. I have a lot of exciting things happening in June. I’m travelling to Europe for a few weeks, it’s my Birthday on the 10th, and i’ve got some exciting new content coming up on my YouTube channel nearing the end of the month! I’ll be posting some vlogs of my travels on my channel but i’m hoping to share a few blog posts of the photos and experiences of my trip, so I hope you can hit the follow button and stay tuned for that! Thanks for reading!

Till next time,

Em
